What dropshipping is
You list products, a customer buys, and a supplier ships the item directly to them. You never hold stock. That removes the biggest upfront cost of retail and introduces a different one: you are responsible for an experience you do not physically control.
Where the margin goes
Supplier price, shipping, payment fees, returns and advertising all come out of the gap between cost and price. Model a realistic return rate before you decide a product is viable.
Choosing suppliers
Order samples yourself. Check how the parcel arrives, how long it takes, and what paperwork is inside it. A supplier who ships slowly or includes their own branding will cost you customers.
Setting expectations
Publish honest delivery windows and stick to them. Most dropshipping complaints are not about quality; they are about surprise.
Making it defensible
Anyone can list the same product. What they cannot copy is your photography, your writing, your niche knowledge and your audience. Invest there.
